Good Stuff to Know:

  • The serving size in the fruit and vegetable descriptions refer to the 5 A Day plan serving portions.
5 A Day is a program encouraged in countries, especially the United States and the United Kingdom, to consume at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each and ever day.  This following requests by the World Health Organization (WHO) to consume at least 400g of vegetables daily.

  • The portion sizes vary a great deal from country to country.  For example, the United States considers 1/4 cup of dried fruit to be a serving, an amount 4 times larger than the 1 tablespoon United Kingdom serving size. [1]

  • Recipes are for appetizers, salads, soups, desserts, drinks, and entrees that include or feature a fruit or vegetable.  These are not vegetarian recipes although we do have many vegetarian recipes.
